In fact in view of huge unemloyment the retirement of all services whether public or private should be uniform so as to avoid discrimination and must not be increased.

Happy to know that Centre Government is at present not considering any move to raise the retirement age to 62 years. In overall community of Govt. employees actually wish to get retired after 58 years. government should think in that way and not to raise the age limit. Only a staff who do not work and take a salary may wish to work up to 62 yrs or 65 yrs. Its true to my knowledge. Thanks to government. I also wish that government may give us 7th CPC in time.

Should not consider for upper age for central govt employees, because if considered, unemployment will grow up.

Experienced people losing in the government departments. some other countries have increased retirement age 65, 70. even madypradesh might have increased to 62 years. govt. also save lots of settlement money. New appointments also will get age benefits, if increasing the retirement age 2-5 years, appointment age also must increase.
and utilize experience in future deployments of the country. our govt. also running quite aged Indian nationals. if really want to fix the age, first have to fix the politicians age, than govt. Servants.

It is an opportune to raise retirement age to 62 according to average life span. It is myth to say that this will give unemployment to youths in govt. jobs. This will save crores of rupees on payment of pensions to retiring employees.

100% right decision, ofcourse if a employee did his job for 10 years he is quite experienced about the organisation and the 60 years old employee can't even memorise the things properly, then how could he/she will do the good job for the organisation, they need the physical and mental rest at the age of 60, so the current rules and relulation by govt. is void no need to change it, as I suppose.

Good decision to raise superannuation to 62. This would curb fiscal deficit of the govt. on payment of lump sum payments to retiring. Further experienced employee brings efficiency.

Consider to raise retirement age upto 62. Experienced employees performs better than young. Upto 65 years people remains physically and mentally fit.

The decision of not increasing central govt. employees retirement age to 62 is very disheartening. The retirement age of govt. servants in many developed countries viz. UK etc. are 65 years because they know that this is the best time to work as people at this age are more responsible, matured, experienced and on the top of it are tension/liability free, to concentrate whole heartedly on their duty. Reg. employment to youth, it is a well known fact that today's youth are very ambitious and are not contented with lower salary as paid by Govt. compared to private sector. Hence they prefer joining private sector rather than govt. Keeping in view the above facts the Govt. must give a second thought and considering increasing the retirement age of central govt. employees to 62 years.

Increase in retirement age has nothing to do with decreasing employment. Retirement age increased in the past did not create unemployment. Computerisation scared people of reduction of jobs but it created more and more job opportunities and reduced unemployment.
Increase in unemployment is rather affected by various factors such as low growth strategies of organisation, unskilled workforce and obsolete developmental plans.
The recent report as reflected in TOI that 12.3 million youth are unemployed in India and that unemployment has risen by 10 % in the last two to three years, is not because there was increase of Central Govt employees retirement age from 58 – 60 but because of an acute failure of model of development. When the benefits of development are not reaching a sizeable section of the populace, the growth rate reduces. Last two decades have witnessed a transition from traditional banking to modern technology driven banking. Exposure to competition has made these banks re-engineer and restructure their processes, systems and product lines. It has created more job opportunities. Similar has been the case with IT sectors which are re-modelling their growth strategies time and again in accordance with the market trends and we have seen huge chunk is employed in this sector. Some growing public sectors ( Nav ratna) are also examples which have time and again re-adopted and re-modelled their development plans and growth strategies to create more job opportunities.

If the govt is not increasing the retirement age, then it is a very wise decision. Instead, it should consider for reducing the retirement age to 55 or 58 years. This is only way to throw away the old junk. They are not updated with latest technology and also they want to remain like that only so that they need not to do any work.

Neither bad news nor good news.
what young generation thinks?lot of people sitting idle and getting money
without job. Really when I was in private sector I was thinking like others. However when I joined In govt. I found I was right partially.
Why not fully? because my thought was when old fellow will out and young people will in then scenario will be changed but actually not.Young fellow are following only old and this will go on

Not a good decision, retirement age should be increased to 62 yrs on basis of performance of the govt servant. pl. don't spell words like 'throw away old junk',are you not going to become old as your parents.at this stage of inflation in prices one cannot remain alive on pension.

The actual age should be dependent on individual's output. Inefficient people should be removed any time. I am Scientist Engineer in bhabha atomic research center. In general, my output/responsibility is 4 times less than L&T employees, though I am on fast track promotion and my performance is more than my colleagues. Output of CG employee should be compared with private company employee output, salary etc. Make CMD of Tata/Infosys/TCS/Godrej/L&T the director of BARC and let them take decision. If I can increase my output then I will get satisfaction that I am returning to countrymen in return to my salary which is coming from tax from them.
