  Labour Bureau, Government of India Press Release Consumer Price Index Numbers for Industrial Workers on Base 2001=100 CPI(IW) Base 2001=100 Monthly Index Letter - MAY 2011 APRIL 2011 - 186 MAY 2011 - 187   ALL INDIA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX NUMBERS FOR INDUSTRIAL WORKERS ON BASE 2001=100 FOR THE MONTH OF MAY, 2011 1.    All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of May, 2011 increased by 1 point and stood at 187 (one hundred & eighty seven) . 2.    During May, 2011, the index recorded increase of 8 points in Ludhiana centre, 6 points in Nasik centre, 5 points each in Giridih, Mundakkayam and Sholapur centres, 4 points in 3 centres, 3 points in 4 centres, 2 points in 14 centres and 1 point in 18 centres. The index decreased by 4 points in Rangapara Tezpur centre, 3 points in Ghaziabad centre, 2 points in Guwahati centre, 1 point in 10 centres, while in the remaining 21 centres the index remained stationar

Railway concession for blind and mentally challenged persons extended to Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express too

  Railway concession for blind and mentally challenged persons extended to Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express too        The Ministry of Railways has decided to extend facility of concession in rail fare to completely blind persons and mentally retarded persons in Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains. The concession for both the categories would be 25 per cent in 3rd AC and AC Chair Car in Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains. Same concession will also be admissible to one escort accompanying such person.   The concession will be effective on tickets purchased on or after 01.07.2011. In case of tickets already issued for travel on and after 01.07.2011 refund of difference of fares will not be admissible.   Presently the concession in rail fair for both the category of persons is 75 per cent in Sleeper Class, AC Chair Car & 3rd AC and 50 per cent in 2nd AC &1st AC in all trains except Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains. Same concession is also admissible to one escort accompanying such person.

Instructions should be issued from the Railway Board to the railways to stop this inhuman practice.” CSCs are required to ensure that RPF staff do not cause harassment/victimization of AC staff working in super-fast train and also to coordinate with GRP for issue of similar instructions in respect of GRP staff. Over 120 central government officials under CVC scanner

  Over 120 central govt officials under CVC scanner NEW DELHI: Nearly 121 central government employees, including one from CBI, are under Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) scanner for their alleged involvement in corrupt practices. Railway ministry topped the list with 23 officials under CVC scanner, 17 are from DoT, 12 from Bureau of Indian Standards, seven from Central Board of Excise and Customs, six each from DDA and MCD among others, a CVC report said. The anti-corruption watchdog recommended major penalty against three officials from Sashastra Seema Bal, a paramilitary force, and one each from All India Institute of Medical Sciences and the Central Bureau of Investigation. According to the CVC monthly performance report for May, a recovery of over Rs four crore was effected after technical examination of procurement works carried out by different departments.
