Press Information Bureau  Government of India Ministry of Health and Family Welfare  26-June-2013 17:39 IST Steps taken by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for relief operations in Uttarakhand : An update  Three Central Public Health Teams have been posted to Uttarakhand. The teams have reported to Principal Secretary (H) on 23.06.2013. Eight additional teams are also kept on standby, ready to move at short notice.  District units of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), NRHM is conducting health surveillance in all affected districts. After picking up early warning signals, Diarrhoea cases in Haridwar (Alwalpur), Uttarkashi (Udvi) and Rudraprayag (Chandrapuri) have been managed at incipient stage. No outbreak of water borne / food borne / air borne or direct contact diseases has been reported from affected areas.  MOHFW has deputed a high level team to Uttarakhand to review the public Health measures.

EMPLOYEES TO DONATE ONE DAY WAGES TO PRIME MINISTER’S RELIEF FUND Excessive and unexpected rainfall resulting in furious floods has battered beyond measure, the Himalayan hill state of Uttarakhand.  Whole villages, stretches of roads and communication links have been affected.  More than 1000 persons met with tragic death.  Thousands, including those from other parts of the country who were undertaking pilgrimages to religiously significant temples in the region, remain stranded.  Hundreds of houses and buildings along the banks of Alakananda and the Bhagirathi has been swept away in Rudraprayag district alone.  Thousands have become homeless.

Press Information Bureau  Government of India Ministry of Railways  17-June-2013 13:06 IST Railways to Launch Ticket Booking through Non-Internet based Mobile Phones with Effect from 1st July 2013  With an aim to further facilitate the passengers, Indian Railways Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC),a public Sector Undertaking of the Ministry of Railways, will be launching a pilot project of ticketing through non-internet based mobile phones with effect from 1st July 2013. This will enable people using non-internet based mobile phones to easily access Railway ticketing services through SMS/IVRS/USSD. The scheme is user-friendly, secure and also eco-friendly, as no print out is required. 

"No plan to increase retirement age of employees"- PTI Report New Delhi, Jun 16 (PTI) Central government employees are in for a disappointment as the Centre is at present not considering any move to raise the retirement age to 62 years. A senior official in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, which acts as nodal department for personnel matters, said there was no such proposal to increase the age for superannuation of government employees.
