Guidelines for Submission of Children Education Allowance Claim

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF CHILDREN EDUCATION ALLOWANCE CLAIM

1. CEA rate from Apr 17 to Jun 17 is Rs 1500/- PM (required to submit School fees receipt and bills).

2. CEA rate from Jul 17 to Mar 18 is Rs 2250/- PM (Fixed amount no need to submit receipts / bills).

3. For Hostel Subsidy the rate is Rs 6750/- PM w.e.f. 01 Jul 17.

4. CEA for Specially Abled Children is Rs 4500/- PM w.e.f. 01 Jul 17.

5. For claiming CEA submit a certificate issued by Head of Institution / School.

6. For Hostel Subsidy similar certificate required with additional information about expenditure towards boarding and lodging in the residential complex.

Kindly Clarify what would be the procedure adopted and the amount to be reimbursed in case of private schools whose academic year is mentioned in the Tuition fee receipt as June 2017 to May 2018.

The definition for Academic year is defined by DOPT as Twelve complete months. In that case Guidelines for submission of reimbursement claim for CEA mentioning the academic year as June 2017 to May 2018 needs to be clarified.

IT is the pre-revised rate of CEA of 18000/12 months = 1500 per month. There is no separate order needed to understand this. If the revised rate of CEA is effective from 1st July 2017, till then the old rate ie., the prerevised rate is in force to be claimed.
Based on that only, it is reiterated that CEA needs to be computed @ 2250 w.e.f July 2017 to March 2018 and @1500 from April 2017 to June 2017 for Kendriya Vidyalayas whose academic year is from April to March. But in private schools the academic year is from May to June. Kindly redress..
