DISPARITY IN PAY SCALES OF TEACHERS

The below information stated by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Resource Development Shri.Dr.D.PURANDESWARI in response to a written question in Lok Sabha on 22nd August 2012.

The overall present student-teacher ratio in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) is 29:1.

Recruitment and appointment of teachers’ post sanctioned under on-going schemes of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) is done by the respective State Governments as per their rules. The salary and allowances payable to the teachers and the terms and conditions of their services are also determined by the respective State Governments.

Under RMSA, residential quarters for teachers are being provided in remote/hilly areas/in areas with difficult terrain to improve the teacher attendance in these areas. Since inception of the Scheme, setting up of 2020 residential quarters for teachers in these areas has been approved under RMSA.
