CGHS empanelment: 18 hospitals furnish fresh tenders

A total of 18 hospitals have submitted fresh tenders for being empanelled under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) in the city. Additional director of CGHS, Pune, S R Pashupatimath said the e-tenders were being processed.

Last year, the government had invited tenders from hospitals for empanelment. While 17 hospitals had been shortlisted, only three were empanelled. This decision had caused a great deal of anxiety among nearly 1 lakh CGHS beneficiaries in the city.

It had led the additional director of CGHS in Pune to write to the authorities, saying it was practically impossible to manage patients at three hospitals. The government had also proposed two tier rates for hospitals accredited with National Accreditation Board of Hospitals (NABH) and those who do not have the NABH.

The ones who would have been hit hard are the beneficiaries, said Suresh Ranade, retired Commandant of BSF and vice-president of the Central Government Pensioners Association. “Previously there were 54 hospitals. It was reduced to 27 and now only three hospitals have been empanelled. However, the government revised its decision and allowed the hospitals to send tenders for empanellement.
