Retirement age should not go beyond 60.Those who want to serve the government beyond the retirement age should apply for appointment which may be required by the govt for some essential services such as leave vacancies, temporary services like deputation posts, census or election duties and so many numerous jobs which can not be filled up by fresh recruitment.

There is no evidence to prove that the employment stagnation due to increasing of retirement age. In between 1960 to 2000 there was no retirement in Central and State government services, then nobody entering in central government service..?

Govt should do something for youngsters .they should reduce the age to 55.

good decision. In fact, service age to be reduced to 58 as the out-put is very dismal.

Raising the age of retirement to 62 years is not a wise decision particularly when the majority of youth of the nation is unemployed. The increase in age will demorolise the youth. Hence the govt.in power should think about the consequences which may arise in aftermath of increase of age & therefore should drop the proposal, if any, in the interest of the unemployed youth.

I fully support the decision of the Central Govt. not to increase retirement age from 60 to 62. We should rather raise the slogan to lower the retirement age limit to 58 to see the future of this country should move fast forward by the dream, vision, talent, energy and dynamics of youth spirit. There are lakhs of unemployed young boys and girls, who have long passed out their Degrees and Masters in Engineering, MCA, MBA, Diploma etc. with the parents burgeoning bank loan or selling out of household properties aspiring for handsome employment but due to the dissappointing economic scenario, their future has become jeopardized. How would an old father or mother be happy to see their adult children staying at home without earning even if extension is allowed in service ?

Govt. must reduce the retirement age to 55.in order to get the job opportunity to young generation. Nowadays so many young boys and girls are highly talented, efficient, educated ,energetic, dynamic but due to no vacancy and all post are occupied by the old junk who are simply sitting and monthly getting young generation are not getting the jobs.In order to get job opportunity Govt should reduce the age to 55. in order to think about young generation who are the responsible Indians and they are going to represent Young India. In order to save Indian Govt should act very fast.

Why Govt is not thinking about young India. Govt should reduce the age to 55 and those who opt for voluntary (VRS)it should accepted immediately without any problem. in order to create job opportunity to youngster.

Not to raise retirement age to 62 is a "good" decision as long as who are opposing does not get a govt job. As soon as opposing person gets the govt job he/she will start supporting it, amazing!

This is based on my survey of 110 pupils.

If Govt is reducing the age to 55 then it is the right decision in favour of India

Govt must think to reduce the age further in order to survival of India

the retirement age should be 60 years or 35 years of total govt service which ever is less . this will give equal opportunity to all govt servants irrespective of their date of birth which may be manipulated by extra-ambitious people .

Retirement age should be RAISED to 62 years. It should not make any difference to the youth as only 3% of the total jobs are Central Govt Jobs.

Instead the Govt should opt various policies to engage youth in Private Sectors.

Govt servant are enjoying in Govt Job upto 20 yrs of their service .is it not sufficient for them. after completion of 20 years of their service their working efficiency has already gone down. Govt should accept VRS immediately after completion of 20 Yrs of their service without any hurdle if they are willing to give VRS,in order to create job opportunity to youngsters .Govt should make provision immediately those who are leaving Govt job after 20 Yrs of their service.Maximum youth in India are unemployed and if Govt is not thinking for them it is nothing but increasing the crime in INDIA.

Every body knows raising the retirement age to 62 is the best thing to be done in the present circumstances. Govt. will be able to stabilise its budget in view of the huge expenditures for Food Bill and election related schemes and expenditures and also in consonance with life span going up and government having to pay huge pensions to people for not working. BJP did it last time, Congress wants to remain behind again and give them a second chance.

Attention UPA Govt!!

It is hard but the truth is the next government would be BJP, who is never against hiking retirement age. There are record number of employees, who are on verge to retire in the next 2 years. Considering the fact that the last retirement age which was enhanced from 58 to 60 was done by BJP Government and the UPA has created negativity among the employees as they were many rumours about the increase in retirement age to 62. Now in present situation the employees are very dissappointed and wants to hike the retirement age to 62.

So the best option for the UPA Government is to raise the retirement age and consider the vote bank of the to-be-retired employees and you may come into power.

Unless this, It is practically impossible for UPA to survive as there is lot of negativity among Central Govt Employees. And as far youth is concerned it would not impact them as just 4% of Indian job market has central government jobs!!

And it is already proven that just 30% of youth only would caste their vote and various surveys reveal that they are seeking for change in Government.

So the final verdict is, Raise the Retirement age to 62 and capture the vote bank, if you UPA wants to come into power in 2014!!

Government should raise the retirement age to 62 years, as most of the other Nations have retirement age upto 65 years!

Had already predicted that UPA has to raise the retirement age to 62 years otherwise it will loose the elections....and it Lost!....Well still UPA has time atleast to capture votebank of these employees and win loksabha elections...

So the final verdict is, Raise the Retirement age to 62 and capture the vote bank, if you UPA wants to come into power in 2014!!

Every body knows raising the retirement age to 62 is the best thing because now a days who are interested to join the Govt. jobs are graduates and also crossed the age of 30 to 35 years. These youngsters will get good opportunities to serve for long time though they join late in the Govt. service.

If reducing the age of retmt, can reduce unemployment, why not 50 years?
What is required is efforts to increase new employment outside the govt. sector, like, IT, food processing, manufacturing, hardware and electronics, garment, textiles and toys etc. Is it not funny, the the last four in the above list are all highly labour intensive and our share (globally) is very very low and China is far ahead. Govt. should enable employment generation, but should not attempt to do it by increasing number of its own employees, because the latter is unsustainable.
Thanks.

In my opinion Govt must not consider the enhancement of Retirement age to 62 yrs.this will affect the upcoming generation. those are in line to replace the old junk in govt service.
Why the old junk in govt service basically so much giddy to continue very well they should be under scanner as far as their agility, performances are in concern. let our new generation to spread their wings efforts to develop the country.Any proposal to increase the retirement age should be thrown into dust bin.

It is not a wise decision. It blocks the opportunities to the youth. 60 years is appropriate for superannuation. Government may think twice or even more before jumping to a decision.

Hiking retirement age was in Agenda of the Govt after implementation of 6th Pay Commission and after careful consideration Govt gave up the idea and was silent all these years until recently the matter again came up for consideration as an main instrument for campaign for the 14th Lok Sabha Polls. If the longevity of Indian soul is considered then hiking of retirement age has got full merit but if you Analise the present unemployment position this cannot be supported at any cost

I wish to draw attention to the topic of enhancement of retirement age. In view of this, my group of colleagues feel that those employed before Jan 2005 are blessed with pension for the rest of the life and subsequently to spouse, might be exempted from the benefit of enhancement of retirement age. Thus avoiding double benefit (i) Pension (ii) Enhanced Retirement Age and extend the single benefit of Enhanced Retirement Age to those employed in/after January 2005. Please take a note of this point and put forward in your forum for consensual discussion.
